Board of Directors

Mike Farrell, Director

Mike Farrell, TLC founder and board member, assists in coaching all the TLC teams.  Mike was a defenseman at Calvert Hall High School where he was a member of the MSA Championship teams of 1971 and 1972, earning high school All-American honors in 1972.  At the University of Maryland, Mike played in the NCAA Lacrosse Championships in all four years of his collegiate career, winning the championship in 1973 and 1975.  He earned First-Team All-American honors in 1974 and 1975.  He was a member of the ACC championship teams of 1973 and 1976.  Mike received the William C. Schmeisser Award as the nation’s best defenseman in 1976 and Maryland’s Edwin E. Powell Award for great service to the game of lacrosse in 1976.  He was also captain for the south team in the 1976 North/South Collegiate All-Star game.  Mike played for the Maryland Lacrosse Club for 1979-82, winning the club championship in 1979 and 1982.  He has continued his contribution to the sport of lacrosse as a coach at the recreational level.  Mike was inducted into the USLacrosse Hall of Fame in 1999.

Karen Bisbee, Administrative Director

Karen Bisbee, a founder and Board Member of TLC Lacrosse, is the Administrative Director for the program, conducting the day-to-day management. A past Commissioner of Towsontowne Girls Lacrosse, Bisbee sat on Maryland Sister States Athletic Committee and helped to coordinate travel for two U.S. teams to Japan for participation in the Friendship Games, an ongoing exchange program between Japan and the U.S. Bisbee was awarded the Volunteer of the Year award from Baltimore County for her work with Towsontowne Girls Lacrosse and in 2009 received the Maryland High School Coaches Association Volunteer of the Year Award for the six years of service to the Bryn Mawr School for Girls in Baltimore.

Stephen F. Bisbee, Board of Directors

Stephen F. Bisbee is a founder and board member of TLC Lacrosse, providing vision and support for the rapidly growing program.  A long supporter of girl's lacrosse in the Baltimore area, he is President and CEO of eOriginal, Inc., a pioneering Digital Transaction Management company located in the warehouse at Camden Yards.  In addition to his support of lacrosse, Bisbee was involved for many years in the Trust for Public Land, a national, nonprofit organization that conserves land for people to enjoy as parks, gardens, natural areas and open space.  He worked diligently to help acquire land for parks and preserve historical sites to be managed by state or federal agencies.

Sam Matz, M.D., Board of Directors

While at Johns Hopkins University, Sam was a football running back.  During his high school career at Milford Mill, Sam was tri-captain of the football, wrestling, and lacrosse teams.  Sam also played for the Liberty/Heros lacrosse club.  Since 1987 he has served as team physician for McDaniel College and Mt. St. Mary’s University.  Sam is a founder and board member of TLC Lacrosse and serves on the boards of Carroll Hospital and Towsontowne.
