TLC lacrosse supports a significant community service initiative. We have a strong belief in teaching the very fortunate young women of our program the importance of giving back to their community and helping those in need. In 2005, our program raised over $6,000 to benefit the victims of Hurricane Katrina. On October 21, 2006, our TLC athletes and their families raised nearly $5,000 by participating in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. We are extremely proud of the girls’ efforts in both of these endeavors. This year, our program has again chosen the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure as our community service project. Through this initiative, our program hopes to make another significant contribution to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. In addition, we feel it will be a wonderful way to bring all the athletes and families of our program together to pool our efforts to better our community. Although this is not a mandatory event, we strongly encourage every member of TLC to participate along with any family members and friends who wish to join them. The date of this event is Saturday, October 14, 2007. There is a one-mile walk for those adults who would prefer not to participate in the 5K run. TLC athletes, wearing their TLC uniforms, will complete the 5K run and will run with adult chaperones from our program. We thank you very much for supporting our commitment to this most important effort. Breast cancer is an insidious disease, one that, at some level, will affect every member of our program. The commitment our children are making to finding a cure for this disease means a great deal to a great many. Participation in this effort offers all of the members of our TLC community the opportunity to continue our tradition of community involvement and betterment. Please see the below directions for the easiest way to register for the race: 1. log on to www.komenmd.org 2. click on race t-shirt 3. click on register here 4. read waiver/click on I agree 5. click circle for Join a Team 6. use drop down box to find TLC Lacrosse 7. click on TLC Lacrosse 8. click continue 9. fill out all questions on registration form (it will prompt you if you miss something) 10. click continue 11. fill in credit card information 12. click continue 13. registration will then be finalized and confirmation will be sent Make sure to close out of the website and go back in for each registration. Otherwise you will receive an error message saying you've already registered.
